# WhatsApp overview

> Learn how WhatsApp on Wavix works, how onboarding works, and what you can do once WhatsApp is enabled for your account.

WhatsApp lets your business reach customers on the messaging app they already use. With WhatsApp on Wavix, you send WhatsApp messages through the same Wavix account, API, and billing you use for SMS and voice. You don't need a separate provider contract or a third-party interface.

## How WhatsApp on Wavix works

Meta operates WhatsApp and sets the rules for business messaging. To send messages, your business needs:

* A **WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)** that belongs to your business and is verified by Meta.
* A **sender** — a phone number registered to your WABA. Customers see its display name when they receive your messages.
* Approved **message templates** for messages that your business starts.

The Wavix platform connects your WABA to your Wavix account. Your application then sends messages through the Wavix API, and the Wavix platform delivers them to WhatsApp and tracks their status.

## Onboarding

Wavix enables WhatsApp for a limited number of accounts at a time. The Wavix team works with you to connect your WABA, register your sender, and submit your first templates.

## What you can do

When WhatsApp is enabled for your account, you can:

* **Send template messages** through the Wavix API or the [Wavix MCP server](/mcp/overview).
* **Check your senders** in the Wavix portal, including their status, quality rating, and messaging limit.
* **Track your templates** in the Wavix portal, including their category, language, and approval status.
* **Review message history** in the Wavix portal to follow each message and its delivery status.
